Undergraduate National EERI Competition

The University of Notre Dame Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI@UND) graduate student group in cooperation with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) undergraduate student group competes annually in the international Seismic Design Competition (SDC) at the EERI national conference.  Teams from across the country plus several international teams build balsa wood towers and then test them at the competition. The towers are subjected to three different earthquake simulations; 1940 El Centro, 1994 Northridge, and a third competition created acceleration.
